Yes, it is a legal requirement to have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) before you can market your property for sale. An EPC provides information about the property’s energy use and typical energy costs, and it rates its efficiency on a scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient). The certificate is valid for 10 years. Your estate agent can usually help you arrange for an accredited assessor to produce an EPC for you.
